Gas4all

Within the SOCOGAS Mission and Vision, the company has conceived and is implementing the “Gas4All” project. The “Gas4All” Project has the overall objective of improving the quality of life of the São Tomé population, in particular women and children, and mitigating harmful environmental practices related to deforestation and the emission of greenhouse gases, resulting from the use of firewood, charcoal, and kerosene for cooking.

The specific objectives of the project are:

1- Promotion of energy inclusion in São Tomé and Príncipe through the widespread use of butane gas as a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable source of energy.

2- Contribution to the preservation of the environment, through the energy transition from firewood, charcoal and kerosene, the main fuels used in the country for food cooking, to gas, a less polluting source of energy, less emitter of greenhouse gases and without impacts on the flora and forest ecosystems of the country.

The project promotes, taking advantage of the small businesses that already exist in the communities, the emergence of a network of resellers, both for equipment and gas, to place the product close to consumers. Gas should be as close to the final consumer as kerosene and coal. “Gas4All” intends to gather contribution from stakeholders in the areas of public health, environmental protection, energy inclusion to achieve the related SDGs.
